The Warren Manor
Week 15 of the 50-50 Tour
Happy Friday the 13th! The last couple of visits in the 50-50 tour have been nonprofit organizations. This week, I visited the Warren Manor (683 Pleasant Drive, Warren) with Susanna Hummel, the administrator, at her request. I also met some of the residents and many of the staff at the facility, including Revis Nickles, the Vice President of Development and Projects for the HCF network.
The Warren Manor was built in the early 1980s and opened in 1984. This is the first major renovation since opening. They’re part of the HCF Management network, which also owns twenty-one facilities in Ohio and seven in Pennsylvania, including the Corry and Edinboro Manors. They are almost done with a major $1.6 million investment in their facilities, which they started last summer. I wasn’t able to make their “hard hat tour” a couple of weeks ago, so Susanna was kind enough to give me a personal tour of the renovations. It’s been a long time since I was in the building and I’m very impressed with the clean, homey look and feel they’ve accomplished with the upgrades. Some of the new features include a library, game room, warm welcome area, and lounge.
In the last year, Warren Manor has improved from a two star to four star overall facility rating, for which they should be congratulated. The Manor recently started a Tapestry Telehealth program. They’ve also been named a Cardiac Center of Excellence by the Allegheny Health Network. Pleasant Volunteer Fire Department provides the fire and EMS coverage for the Manor and do a great job caring for the Manor residents. They offer long-term care, hospice care, palliative care, respite care, rehabilitation (in house and outpatient), memory support and more. With usually over 110 residents at any given time, they’re usually pretty close to their 120 bed capacity. That keeps their 140 staff busy.
Learn more about the Warren Manor at their website. Also, mark your calendars if you’re interested in attending an open house on June 24th, 2018.
