Wednesday, April 4, 2019 | Warren, PA – The Warren County Commissioner
Jeff Eggleston announced the County’s first “Environmental Expo” to be held at
the Warren Public Library in the Slater Room on Earth Day, Monday, April 22nd
from 10:30 am to 4:15 pm. The “Expo” is a free public event to bring regional
leaders in environmental advocacy and awareness together to discuss clean air,
clean water, and various sustainability programs that will help keep waste from
corrupting our natural resources and provide a beautiful and healthy
environment for years to come.

“I am very excited at having this event finally come together,” said
Commissioner Jeff Eggleston. “This first effort, which involves a variety of
public and private agencies, is an open forum to discuss and debate our current
challenges with sustainable living and conserving our beautiful forests and
streams.”

The event will include a panel discussion by directors from the
Northwest Regional Office of DEP (Department of Environmental Protection), as
well as several presentations by regional organizations which have a vested
interest in environmental initiatives, including Allegheny Outfitters and the
Conservation District. In closing, there will be a comprehensive presentation
by Commissioner Eggleston on the County Recycling Initiative.

Heather Wilcox, District Manager of the Warren County Conservation
District said in support of the event, “The Conservation District Staff
are looking forward to discussing the mission and responsibilities of the
Warren County Conservation District. The District oversees vital programs which
protect, improve, and conserve the county’s soil, water, and related natural
resources. The District is grateful for this additional opportunity to educate
the public.”

There will be tables available for organizations to display educational
literature and to meet people and answer questions. Space is limited, so if an
organization would like table space to house a display or some literature, they
are encouraged to contact the organizer.

“I’m very excited to be part of this event.” Said Piper VanOrd, owner
of Allegheny Outfitters, “It’s great to see multiple agencies coming together
to discuss conservation and environmental issues. We, at Allegheny Outfitters,
are happy to be part of the discussion.”

In conclusion, Commissioner Eggleston stated, “I encourage the public
to join us in this effort at building awareness and community support around
conservation and sustainability. Maintaining our natural surroundings for
generation to come has to be a top priority.”
