Deadline to Apply for an Absentee Ballot

Your absentee ballot application must be received
by the Election Department by 4:30 pm on
Tuesday, November 1st, 2016.

Obtaining an Absentee Ballot

An individual who expects to be absent from his/her municipality on Election Day during the entire period the polls are open for voting (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) is eligible to apply for an absentee ballot. In addition, any voter who, because of illness or physical disability, is unable to attend his/her polling place or operate a voting machine may apply for an absentee ballot.

For those who are permanently ill or disabled, Permanent Absentee status is available. These voters automatically receive absentee applications prior to each election in which they are eligible to vote for four years. If you are interested in this option, please contact the Warren County Elections Office and we will prepare the necessary paperwork for you.

Once you turn in your absentee application and it is approved, you will receive a paper ballot which you must turn in to the Elections Department before the deadline (by 4:30 p.m. on the Friday before the election).

Civilian Absentee Voting Deadlines

Applications: The last day to apply for a civilian absentee ballot is 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday before the election. Please note that postmarks do not apply and original applications must be received (no facsimiles or emails).

Voted Ballots: All civilian voted ballots must be returned to the County Board of Elections Office by 4:30 p.m. on the Friday before the election. Please note that postmarks do not apply.

Military & Civilian Overseas Voting Deadlines

Applications: Military voters may apply until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Civilian overseas voters may apply until 4:30 p.m. on the Tuesday before the election. Please note that postmarks do not apply.

Voted Ballots: All military and civilian overseas ballots must be post marked no later than the day before the election and must be received in the office by 4:30 p.m. on the next Tuesday (seventh day) after the election.

Qualified military and overseas voters are exempt from photo ID requirements. Furthermore, they may apply for and receive their ballots electronically if so desired; these ballots must be printed, voted and returned by the voter.
